Alvin McCray

Alvin McCray has achieved personal success as a songwriter, having written over 200 songs, but strives to gain universal success by unleashing his heartfelt compositions all over the world. An accomplished pianist and organist, Alvin began his music lessons at the age of eight. First learning the viola and cello, he easily transitioned from strings to brass by learning the baritone horn and valve trombone. He studied the piano with several instructors but soon realized that his love of gospel music would soon be his greatest teacher.
Although his love for gospel music would suffice, his true love of music would be in secular genres: R&B and Pop. He wrote his first love song at the tender age of 14 on the brand new piano his father surprised him with on his 13th birthday. With all the various sports activities, Alvin found only minimal time to study the grueling private lessons. Quickly losing interest in Bach and falling deeper into Lionel Richie's pop footsteps, he gave up the lessons, bought a book of chord structures, and began incorporating chords and lyrics. With his first song, Lady Love, he would soon write what has been considered by his musician peers some of the greatest love songs ever written.
