Studio Assistant to Mark Saunders, Engineer and Producer. My jobs included responsibilities of a personal assistant, studio assistant, and band assistant. I managed Mark's personal affairs, managed his Ebay account (buy, sell, package, ship etc), and kept him organized. I placed microphones, set up recording sessions (studio recalls), tuned and set up guitars, organized and cleaned the live room, managed repairs for studio equipment and performed minor repairs, recorded/engineered vocals, and helped with mixing. I made coffee for the band, cleaned up after them, set up practice areas, helped them with computer trouble, bounced files, made cd's, and occasionally (if necessary) babysat. I also helped out other people that work in the studio when necessary by setting up sessions, engineering and playing instruments.
I received credit on the Shiny Toy Guns album WE ARE PILOTS (Universal/Motown 2006) as "additional engineering by..."
Engineered "Take Me Back To Where I Was" by Shiny Toy Guns (Universal/Motown)
Engineered, produced and mixed "Joni Smiles" by Donovan
In college I produced, tracked, and mixed two albums as independent study projects (see reference Tony Holland), the latter of which is available for listening upon request.
I also worked for 7 years as a sailing instructor for both children and adults, and later was promoted to waterfront safety director. I quickly learned and honed my "people" skills, whether it be dealing with customers (angry or otherwise), parents, bosses or co-workers. Leadership skills were inherent in all aspects of the job, especially waterfront director. I was responsible for the safety of 30 children and 5 counselors in 4 different boats on the water at all times. These qualities make interaction with artists, producers, A&R persons and other assistants very smooth and painless. When at the console, patience and communication are two key elements that come directly from these prior jobs. See reference Tim McGinty.
Engineering for an aired radio spot for Aquafina "Mouth Music" for Matt Haick (see references)
Engineered drums, bass, guitar, and cello for Matt's band's new album. Tracks available for demo soon.
Mastered tracks for Ghost Town Symphony, a band Matt engineered and produced. Tracks Available upon request for listening.
Live sound engineer for Shiny Toy Guns Alaska/Canada tour.
