I invite you to contact me regarding my workshops, residencies, master class and presentations in Afro-Peruvian music and dance.
While many people are familiar with Peru's Andean music, fewer are aware of Peru's rich African heritage which blended with Spanish and Andean sounds to create unique Afro-Peruvian instruments, rhythms and dances. Afro-Peruvian music uses instruments that were invented after the Spanish banned the use of African drums, including: the cajón (a box-drum), the cajita (a box used for collection in Catholic churches) and quijada (a dried donkey's jawbone).
