We are seeking interns in the Artistic, Production, General Management, Marketing and Press departments to assist with the administration and programming of a vibrant, eclectic theater. These internships offer a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in artistic development, management, promotion, and producing.
The ideal candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills; strong writing skills; excellent attention to detail; the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; proficiency in Word and Excel. Some evening availability is necessary. For more detailed job requirements for the individual positions, please see below.
Spring internships begin in January, summer internships begin in early June and fall internships begin in late August/early September. There is some flexibility in start dates. Weekly stipend or college credit available.
Artistic Intern
Responsibilities may include logging and tracking submissions; organizing show coverage; assisting with play readings and developmental workshops; evaluating submissions and attending productions; and general administrative support for the artistic staff.
This is a full-time position.
Production Intern
Responsibilities may include maintaining inventory of sound/lighting equipment; assisting production staff on Mainstage productions and series programming; and gathering production materials as needed. This internship will provide hands-on experience in a variety of production disciplines; previous technical production experience a plus.
Full-time and part-time positions available.
General Management Intern
Responsibilities may include assisting with day to day Front of House activities; organizational projects; maintaining artist contracts; drafting correspondence; special projects including research for union and individual contract negotiations, as well as legal and copyright issues; assistance in development efforts; and general administrative support.
This is a part-time position.
Marketing/PR Intern
Responsibilities may include marketing research, press outreach, proofreading and editorial work, sales analysis and social network updates. Interests or involvements with writing, promotion, blogs, NYC arts, and social communities preferred. Mac OS X/ iWork experience a plus.
This is a part-time position.
Digital Media/Web Intern
Responsibilities may include updating web content and social networking sites, light video/photo editing,and minor web/graphic design. Interested applicants should have experience with iMovie or Final Cut, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic HTML knowledge. Interest in theater/NYC arts a plus.
This is a part-time position.
