Austin CPA office has an opening in late August for the right person. Applicant must have passed all or part of the CPA exam and have at least 3 years of experience preparing individual, corporate, S-corp, trust, and partnership tax returns as well as experience in compilations, payroll taxes and the Texas margin tax. Applicant must have above average verbal and written communication skills and be an effective communicator with clients, co-workers, and firm owner. This position is in charge of all tax return preparation for the firm, from intake and client interview to final review. Also is responsible for identifying and complying with all relevant tax law issues, meeting all deadlines and preparing extensions. Strong research skills and problem solving skills with high attention to details are required. A well rounded, broad exposure to tax issues common to small business owners and individuals is a requirement for this position, which includes entity formation and liquidation, tax basis, liability protection, compensation and fringe benefit, and state income and sales tax issues of partnerships and S corporations. Experience and skills in adjusting client-provided QuickBooks files for purposes of tax preparation is a requirement. Firm environment is informal but professional and located in a growing, attractive section of south Austin. Firm includes 2 professionals and 4 staff, has been in existence in Austin since 1985, and has been in current firm-owned location since 1995 with room to grow. Although this position will provide tax service to clients in a variety of business sectors, the firm has a niche in the music business community and the person in this position will gain exposure in that area. In addition to a tax and compilation practice, the firm also provides business management services to musical artists and other music related businesses. Compensation is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. Fringe benefits include group health, dental insurance and retirement plan.
