We are the world's largest education music publisher, seeking a senior copywriter for our keyboard team's marketing department. Established in 1922, we enjoy low turnover, a casual but professional work environment, a caring, supportive staff, and a great benefit package.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision of the Director of Marketing, creates all marketing copy for web and print promotions on piano product (such as piano teacher conventions and workshops), targeting piano teachers, retailers, and end users.

CORE DUTIES
1. Analyze and evaluate music and music publications for the purpose of writing product descriptions, selecting sample pages for the web, and making recommendations for product positioning.
2. Create copy for all print promotions, including direct mail pieces, ads, catalogs, workshop invitations, and e-mail broadcasts.
3. Correlate web and print marketing to create strongest impact.
4. Serve as customer service resource for inquiries that require a high level of musical and/or educational expertise. Assist with other customer service functions as needed.
5. Analyze customer response to promotional efforts and report findings.
6. Prepare all print promo text and layout, formatting with appropriate style sheets for graphic designer.
7. Oversee a workflow system of proofing that ensures production deadlines are met, and retain the highest standards of editorial accuracy.
8. Choose and populate web content to correlate with strategic marketing plans on Alfred.com and ancillary sites. Ensure that all data fields are populated accurately.
9. Create, edit and proof all print and web promotions, adhering to Alfred's branding and marketing strategies.
10. Condense author bios for both web and print promotions.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in piano performance, piano pedagogy or music education (piano emphasis), or equivalent professional work experience.
Piano teaching and/or music retail experience preferred.
Superior writing skills with ability to create succinct, persuasive ad copy, including product descriptions, headlines, slogans, banner ads and other targeted marketing initiatives.
Experience with and knowledge of text editing and proofreading principles.
Extensive experience in the use of format functions in Microsoft Word is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

This is a full-time regular position located in our headquarters office in Van Nuys, California.
Local Candidates only please. Hours are generally M-F 8 AM - 4:30 PM. however each department arranges its own best schedule.
