About the job
Like classical music? Love the arts in New York City? Want to work for a leading public relations firm that represents some of today’s greatest talents gracing the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center?
We are a boutique PR firm that handles cultural and lifestyle clients, with an emphasis on classical musicians and the arts. Specializing in media relations, our staff is comprised of a dedicated and diverse team of professionals who have longstanding relationships with editors, writers and producers in print, broadcast and electronic media. We are committed to providing maximum service to a select number of clients, and has generated key coverage in national, international and regional media outlets. Clients include orchestras, cultural institutions, dance and theater companies, arts festivals and performing artists. The company also specializes in publicity for Benefits and Galas, as well as the opening of new or expanded cultural facilities such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College, The Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, The Peter Norton Symphony Space, and the Kaufman Center in New York City.
As an intern with us, you will work with a staff of publicists on a variety of projects, providing you with professional training in the public relations/music industry business. Intern responsibilities are varied, and include: researching potential media leads and contacts, documenting and maintaining records of our clients' daily press coverage, updating and augmenting press plans, and some general office work. Perks include concert tickets and a fantastic opportunity to receive hands-on training in a small office environment - you will be an integral part of the team!
The internship is unpaid, and can be completed for school credit. A small stipend will be provided for lunch and subway fare. No experience is necessary, but we are looking for people who are motivated and can work in a fast-paced environment. Hours are flexible, so we can work with your school schedule – however, in order to be considered, applicants must be able to work a minimum of - 20-25 hours a week (Monday through Friday) between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
We are currently looking for an intern for the spring semester (January – May). If you are interested, please e-mail a cover letter and resume for review.
