Sound Engineer

About the job

We are in need of a sound engineer for our 30th anniversary season. The sound engineer must have a strong working knowledge of SFX, live mixing, mini-disk decks, and the recording process. The sound engineer will be responsible to run sound for each performance of a shows run. The sound engineer will assist guest designers with speaker placement, mics, programming the sound board, and other concerns specific to each production. Also the sound engineer will be responsible for the handling all of the sound needs of special events and education “On the go” productions.

Specific Responsibilities
1. Hang and focus and maintain speakers for each show
2. Program and Run sound board for all performances, unless time off has been granted by Production Manager
3. Set up sound and mix additional projects as needed and directed by the production manager
4. Maintain sound equipment and clear com system
5. Develop necessary skills to complete work
6. Ask any questions necessary to gain a complete understanding of the work to be performed before work begins. Ask questions ongoing as necessary
7. Engineer and record voiceovers, sound fx, announcements, and on hold phone messages for the theatre
8. Assist in load in and strike for each production
9. Maintain a clean and orderly recording studio, and assist in facility cleanup after load-ins and strikes
10. Adhere to and advise on all safety procedures designated by the technical director and/or production manager, including but not limited to the use of personal protective devices and tool safety devices.
