We are seeking a Social Marketing Intern for the Spring 2010 semester. The Social Marketing Intern will play a major role in our online communications strategy. (S)he will help maintain our social networking profiles, with an emphasis on Facebook and Twitter, but also possibly including YouTube, MySpace, and other networks. (S)he will also contribute 3-4 articles/research pieces to our website each month. This work will support several major events planned for 2010, innovative online fundraising campaigns, as well as our overall strategy of raising awareness of the issues veterans are facing today.
Our organization is young, creative, and growing. We seek an intern as passionate about our cause as we are, who is interested in getting hands-on nonprofit communications experience as part of our team.
This unpaid internship will be performed remotely, with regular communication via telephone, e-mail, and Skype, and possible in-person meetings depending upon the intern's location.
This is a great opportunity to practice marketing essentials such as campaign creation and basic web analytics while also supporting professional partnerships within the nonprofit sector. The ideal candidate not only has a passion for the nonprofit sector but a strong interest in virtual marketing/advertising. This is an opportunity to grow their knowledge of social media and fundraising campaigns.
Responsibilities:
• Manage social web interactions including Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace.
• Contribute to creation of ad campaigns for display and search engine marketing.
• Limited content development, such as blogging, photo sharing and reviews of events.
• Logistical support for blogtalkradio show.
• Light web analytics.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Ability to work 15-20 hours per week (schedule is very flexible)
• Working towards a Bachelors or Masters Degree (Marketing preferred)
• Strong knowledge of social networking sites.
• Extremely detail-oriented and analytical.
• Knowledge of and interest in nonprofits.
• Work effectively in a fast paced team environment.
• Outgoing, positive and dependable.
