We are an internationally recognized presenter of contemporary performing arts and cinema, seeks a full-time Publicity Manager to implement publicity campaigns for our programs, the repertory film program of our Cinemas, in order to raise both audience and community awareness of our special programs that include festivals, director Q&A sessions, and week-long screenings of rare, new prints. The Publicity Manager will report to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities:
• Assertively pitch stories to key outlets to generate coverage of programming, sometimes in collaboration with PR professionals representing film festivals
• Develop timelines and strategy for advance press coverage of programs and reviews for week-long film runs. Ensure internal deadlines for press campaigns are met.
• Discuss press strategy with fellow communication department members in weekly meetings.
• Develop relationships with journalists from print, radio, TV, and the Internet in order to maximize coverage of programs. Identify new contacts and outlets to increase press exposure. Accompany or escort artists to interviews.
• Research, write, proofread, edit, and secure approvals for assigned written materials, including press releases, and pitch letters. Work with Publications Manager, and Marketing Department to proofread and edit marketing materials, film ads, and other publications.
• Delegate press tasks to the Marketing and Press Associate and manage and oversee the work of this associate as related to press.
• Assist when necessary at institutional department efforts (galas, press conferences, etc.).

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 4 years PR experience, preferably in film public relations.
• Have positive working relationships with journalists and editors at print, online, TV, and radio outlets.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PDF Creator
• Familiarity with and interest in repertory film
• Ability to delegate tasks and motivate staff
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Highly self-motivated, organized with attention to detail
• Outgoing and friendly personality
• Ability to cover events on weekends and evenings, as required

Compensation:
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience (plus a full benefit package)
