We are seeking a Publications and Content Editor to provide content for and review our Website, including creating, editing, and proofing written and video content, and serving on the Website Committee. Contribute to the editorial pages of the monthly Playbill program magazine, and manage its institutional pages. Responsible for the institution’s press releases. Contribute to the institution’s special publications. Collaborate with the rest of the Communications department staff on media matters.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage and provide content for specific sections of our website, including the virtual tours (online slideshows and videos recounting our tours and prominent at-home activities) and Three-Sixty series (a major, recurring multimedia feature, released four times per year); contribute to the production of videos in conjunction with the Media Relations Associate; oversee the About Us section; and serve on the Website committee, including proofing of homepage updates.

2. Contribute to the editorial section of the monthly Playbill magazine; includes proposing story ideas and writers, writing copy for specific features, and providing editorial assistance.

3. Manage Playbill institutional pages, including liaising with other departments.

4. Write and/or edit all of the institution’s press releases, and oversee creation of season announcement materials.

5. Support the creation of special publications such as the Annual Report, Fact Book, and commemorative booklets; includes writing, photo selection, editing, and proofreading.

6. Maintain and update the biographies of the organization, Music Director, Board Chairman, Executive Director, and all of the Orchestra. Interview two musicians per month for Playbill and online Q+As.

7. Share equitably in the responsibilities of press duty for concerts and events year-round.

8. Miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of three to five years writing and editing experience; significant knowledge of current Web-based and other emerging communications tools; excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines, work under pressure, and interact with a wide variety of people. Strong music background (music degree or equivalent) and a keen sense of “appropriateness” in representing the organization are essential. Video shooting and editing skills preferred.
