Are you are a professional guitarist / experienced music instructor looking to supplement your income with part-time guitar transcription work (5-8 hours per week, working from home)? KEY HIGHLIGHTS AND COMPENSATION:
• Company Summary: We are an innovative, professionally-run online start-up, which has developed a unique business model that solves the largely unmet needs of guitarists looking for tablature online. We are founded by professional business people who are also guitar players, and have already received equity funding. We currently have 19 professional musicians on-staff, and are looking to hire approximately 10 additional professional musicians in the near-term.
• Compensation: We share a substantial portion of its revenue with the professional musicians who create the transcriptions that power our website. In addition to providing cash royalty payments, we also offer stock options to musicians committed to growing the company over the long-term. We also give you all the software and tools you’ll need to quickly and efficiently create transcriptions.
• Time Commitment / Location: We are looking for musicians / instructors with strong transcription skills that can commit 5-8 hours per week (more hours are available if desired). We also offer the ability to work from home.
• Additional Benefits: We provide musicians with a professional platform, which showcases their talents and teaching abilities to a broad online audience. Moreover, our website helps professional guitarists grow their base of students and/or fans through exposure generated on our website and streaming video sites (e.g., YouTube®).
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for motivated, experienced guitarists who have strong transcription skills and are committed to building the “next generation” tablature site by committing at least 5-8 hours per week. The key requirements needed for this position include:
- Several years of experience as a professional guitarist and/or music instructor;
- Strong ability to quickly and accurately transcribe recorded music;
- Several years of music theory experience (a degree in music is preferred, but not required);
- Amazing playing skills;
- Ability to work well on a team;
- Based near the NY metro area; and
- Knowledge of Finale, Sibelius or other notation systems will be helpful, although not required.
