About the job
Position: Piano-Keyboard Instructor to give Private Piano Lessons to Children and Adults
Location: Hudson, Massachusetts
Start Date: February 24, 2010 or ASAP
End Date: none
Are you are dedicated to teaching piano to children (as young as 6) and adults who take lessons for enrichment and enjoyment?
If so, we are looking for you.
We currently have an opening for a piano instructor to teach on Tuesdays between the hours of 3:00pm and 8:00pm at our Hudson, MA location.
As a member of our Hudson Piano Studio Faculty, you will need to be patient and encouraging as you teach piano playing skills to beginners and intermediate students.
You will also need to be able to play and teach jazz and popular styles to students as they learn to work from a Fake Book.
In order for your work to achieve maximum effectiveness, Ed Mascari will mentor and train you to implement his unique teaching methods which he has developed over the past 30 years.
This will be done through a combination of email communication and weekly phone calls when you and Ed will discuss each student's progress, program and problems.
Your compensation will be 50% of the monthly tuition payment amount paid by each student (currently $125).
Thus, if you teach 4 students every Tuesday (half-hour lessons), you will receive $250 per month.
In order for your income to grow, you must be willing to START by teaching ONE STUDENT PER WEEK (we already have a student waiting).
Your compensation will increase as each new Tuesday student enrolls. This happens ONE STUDENT at a time.
You will need to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times, and you must be able to function effectively without constant supervision.
In addition to having a music degree, some prior private teaching experience will be helpful but not necessary.
However, your willingness to implement the Ed Mascari Piano Studio's system and philosophy of teaching is essential.
Due to the location of the studio, it is necessary for you to have reliable transportation.
