Job Description:
The Orchestra Program Director (OPD) will become the liaison for the overall success, growth, and progress of the program. The specific duties of the OPD include, but are not limited to the following:

Attain program GOALS by:
1) support in fundraising tasks by first going over 5-year plan with Executive Director then help spread the word so the public becomes aware of program goals and plans, and ask for financial support
2) having at least 80% of students to continue in the program the following year
3) perform in at least 3 venues by the end of the year including Piccolo Spoleto
4) build working and collaborative relationships with local and professional orchestral musicians for the subsequent year
5) planning following years orchestra by adding additional instruments and additional schools
6) thinking ahead about the kind of space needed as program grows
7) designing classes for 60 students as well as instructors
8) coming up with a realistic budget
9) always being on the lookout for new instruments to add, including special deals and sales, private donors, etc.
10) assisting/supporting grant writer, seeking out other possible grants to apply for, or applying to grant(s) personally if the task is doable by OPD
11) planning and promote Summer Orchestra Camp that would include current students as well as other students

Specific Managerial Duties:
1) Design Beginning and Intermediate orchestras curriculum for 2 hour classes, Monday through Friday
2) Conduct research on various repertoires for program, collect and keep them neatly filed and organized
3) Think ahead for next years repertoire
4) Keep track of instrument inventory that will be kept at Meeting Street Academy; this includes upkeep of all instruments, making sure any necessary repairs or cleaning will be taken care of
5) Make certain that communication with partnership school(s) regarding our intended program plans and goals are maintained and kept with clarity and professionalism
6) Maintain a daily contact routine to ensure everyone involved is on the same page and understanding
7) Communicate clearly to partners our needs to ensure programs success and vice versa, be attuned to the needs, expectations, and wants of partners (i.e. being sensitive to their opinions, ideas, and suggestions)
8) Communicate clearly to partners that their involvement and support is absolutely crucial in having a smoothly operating program
9) Include educating students about how to take care of instruments (handling, cleaning, polishing, etc.) into curriculum so that classes are not only about learning to play an instrument
10) Keep, maintain, and create data reports for every student that will include their progress, attendance, etc. These files should be kept organized and reported every other week to the Executive Director
11) Seek and interview other musician/intern (Artist Certificate student) so that he/she will be able to assist the OPD; the OPD will be responsible for writing up interns job title and specific job duties
