About the job

A yearly contracted position, the program narrator / educator provides the narration of a children’s story set to music especially commissioned and played by members of the Orchestra. Concerts are for four- and five-year olds and takes place at Orchestra Hall October through May. In addition, the Narrator/Educator works closely with the Educational Consultant to develop the following year’s program, teacher training and supplemental program curriculum material. Contract date is from: Hire date to August 31, 2010.

Required Skills, Competencies, Experience:
1. Background and education in the field of early childhood music education.
2. Curriculum development and writing skill.
3. Arts performance experience, especially in music. Theater and other arts experience a plus.
4. Prior experience conducting adult professional development training a plus.
5. Additional course work/workshops in a variety of music education methodologies (Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, etc.).
6. Strong communication skills, written and spoken.
7. Ability to work successfully with a wide range of people.

Will be asked to audition (sing a song, teach a lesson about the song, tell a story) in an early childhood setting.
