About the job
We are seeking a Music Director/Arranger.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create custom tracks and vocal arrangements for a summer season of 3 cabaret musical revues with four-member cast.
The shows are "Men in Black" the music of Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison, "All You Need is Love", a Beatles celebration, and a night of songs from the Silver Screen.
The candidate will rehearse the cast through the opening of the final of the three shows.
Theater provides a Yamaha Motif XS for rehearsals and building tracks - experience with that line or similar is a plus.
Duties include creating vocal arrangements, charting certain songs by ear, and the creation of MP3 accompaniment tracks with complex rhythm/orchestration ranging from american standard to pop (mostly designed to emulate pre-existing recordings provided by the artistic director).
REQUIREMENTS:
The right candidate will have the computer software technology (Logic, Cubase, ProTools, or a similar program) to build quality MIDI tracks before rehearsals begin and to modify those tracks during rehearsals as needed. A $1,000 preproduction stipend is provided.
Other duties include working in tandem with the artistic director to execute the production's vision.
WHEN:
Rehearsals begin on June 13th. The musical director will remain with the company until the opening of the third show July 28th.
Interviews will be held by skype/phone.
Please submit several examples of your arranging/tracking work, along with cover letter and resume for consideration.
