We are seeking an Admissions Counselor.
Responsibilities:
Counseling/Recruiting:
-Counsel prospective students,
applicants and their families
-Reply to correspondences, phone calls and emails from prospective applicants and their parents
-College fair/recruitment nationwide
-Travel as needed
-Attend conferences as needed
-Give “Information Sessions” daily after each school tour
-Coordinate group visits
-Setup class visits for prospective students
-Coordinate specific classes with faculty
-Send class visit email to the student with schedule
-Send out faculty memos
Admission Liaison for Assigned Departments:
-Manage a caseload
-Correspond with parents, applicants, and faculty of assigned caseload
-Reconcile “problem files” (missing key materials)
-Read and review admission files
-Evaluate academic and language proficiency documentation
-Maintain electronic and paper records from initial contact to matriculation
-Coordinate prescreen evaluation and manage prescreen materials
-Schedule auditions
-Notify caseload applicants of audition time
-Setup applicant meeting with faculty, as necessary
-Prepare for and attend Admission Committee meetings
-Merge and email all prescreen and audition results (accept, deny, waitlist)
-Evaluate Immunization Records for compliance with New York State Law
-Update caseload Instrument brochures and faculty list for print and web
Data Entry:
-Input inquiries of all prospective students as needed and generate letters for mailing
Other Responsibilities:
-Assist the Associate Dean for Admission and Financial Aid as needed
-Assist other staff members as needed
-Give school tours as needed
-Assist in preparation and maintenance of audition week binders, clipboards, and copies
-Assist with updating materials for Acceptance and Confirmation mailings
-Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
-Music background extremely helpful
-Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
-Work patiently and supportively with prospective students, applicants and their families
-Excellent interpersonal and phone skills
-Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and Access required
