We are currently seeking a Manager of Marketing Research for the Universal City, CA location.

The Market Research Manager will support the department’s efforts to provide actionable business recommendations based on custom research and analysis and insight from syndicated research.

This research will help to identify untapped/new, as well as established but improved business opportunities for the company and will impact multiple business units, including UMGD, UMG labels, VE studios and retail customer partners for both physical and digital products.


Job Reports to: Senior Director Market Research


Responsibilities:

• Provide insight and analysis of syndicated research and distribute to appropriate audience
• Utilize syndicated research data to assist with the creation of marketing plans, sponsorship pitches and sales presentations
• Assist with creating custom surveys and other primary research to address relevant business issues
• Manage internal market research library of custom studies and reports
• Provide project status input to manager for the monthly steering committee meetings
• Responsible for ensuring the timely and quality delivery of projects to the appropriate requestor at the business unit



Internal Relationships:
This position must interact with all levels of management at UMGD, record labels and other UMG business units.


External Relationships:
This position must interact with various research vendors to communicate our research needs and ensure business objectives are being met appropriately.



Requirements:

Skills Profile:

• Ability to provide concise summaries of research in a language that is understandable to the audience, including a summary, methodology, discussion/findings and actionable recommendations.
• Ability to understand meaning of data after reports are generated and consumed
• Ability to communicate the meaning of data analysis and its relationship to current business strategies
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent organizational skills



Experience/Knowledge:

• 4-6 years market research experience
• Previous customer service experience interfacing with internal customer personnel defining business requirements and delivering upon stated objectives
• Strong knowledge of music/entertainment business
• High proficiency in SPSS, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proven track record of successful project implementations
• Proven experience in communicating and interacting with all levels of personnel within a business unit


Education/Other:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Marketing Research or equivalent work experience
• Market research certification a plus
