We are seeking a Group Sales Specialist.
The Group Sales Specialist’s core responsibility is to work closely with Patrons Services to develop all facets of group sales opportunities, including but not limited to:
-Travel/tourism market
-Alumni and service groups
-Affinity groups
-Educational Institutions and Educators
-Professional and corporate organizations, and others locally, nationally and internationally
The Group Sales Specialist is a part of the campaign group, reporting to the Campaign Manager. As such, the success of the Group Sales Specialist is integral to the success of campaign revenue goals. He/she works in close collaboration with the group sales fulfillment representative in Patron Services. Occasional on-site hospitality duties are included in scope of work.
This is a part-time position, and responsibility may be fulfilled in part off-site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-With Campaign Manager, set quarterly and yearly group sales contact and sales goals; monitor and report achievement to goals
-Develop and implement comprehensive and strategic group sales plan
-Set goals for lead development and sales
-Scan the yearly program to become alerted to special programmatic opportunities
-Research and attract potential new groups for sales; make outbound contact through calls and/or emails
-Create standard and custom entertainment options and packages to build sales
-Make personal appearances to pitch our organization as a viable entertainment option to groups of all kinds
-Coordinate with Patron Services to handle the inbound orders
-Coordinate with Patron Services and
-Campaign team members to ensure that offers are set up in database, and correctly documented
-Coordinate with Operations team to direct hospitality set-up
-Work with other departments (Education, Development etc) to create and fulfill sales opportunities
-Provide direction for all group sales collateral production; write and proof quarterly group email content
-Develop method of tracking contacts and strategies to encourage initial and repeat business
-Followup with buyers to determine satisfaction
-Research/monitor other organizations’ group sales initiatives
-Meet with the entire Campaign Group periodically to discuss plans and successes, and to ensure that efforts across the department are aligned
-Develop tourism business segment
-Attend trade shows as possible, including Pow Wow
-Contact and develop relationships with group operators in all facets of travel business to build clientele for sales
-Recommend advertising and other communication strategies for outreach to the tourism market
-Fully activate our relationship with SFTravel (formerly San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau) to attract visiting groups to concerts
-Attend events at SFTravel with city peers
-Utilize all resources of SFTravel to engage with all levels of travel and tourism opportunities
-Coordinate with Patron Services’ colleagues on all offers and discounts; work with current contacts to build business
-Curate on-site group events, including: planning, promoting, organizing catering and facility logistics, attending and presenting a sales pitch at each of these events, collecting names of attendees, and devising follow-up plans
Desired Skills & Experience:
-Two+ years’ experience in the group sales environment; proven record of group sales achievement
-Ability to work within set organizational structures while also thinking creatively about sales offers and outreach
-Enthusiasm or contact-building, outbound calling, as well as the ability to develop relationships with existing customers
-Knowledge of and ability to cultivate relationships with travel/tour professionals necessary
-Excellent presentation and speaking skills desirable.
-Must have excellent detail management, interpersonal, computer, verbal/written communication, and project coordination skills.
-Successful candidate can be self-directed, but will also be able to deliver results aspart of a sales team
-Sense of humor and collegial nature
-Able to work some evenings and weekends
-Music knowledge a plus
