We are seeking an Executive Director.
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the corporation. S/he manages the human and financial resources of the organization in order to fulfill our organization's mission and achieve its goals for artistic success, financial stability, and community engagement.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors through the Board President and supervises the Director of Development, Director of Marketing and Education Outreach, the Artistic Manager, and the Office/Box Office Manager.
The Executive Director is responsible and accountable for all operational aspects of the organization, including: planning, fundraising, artistic administration, marketing, public relations, education, concert production, collective bargaining negotiations, budgeting, and financial management. Working with the Board and its officers, s/he ensures that our organization achieves its goals for earned and contributed income.
The Executive Director provides leadership and vision for the continued development of the organization and the continued enrichment of the musical life of the community. S/he ensures that the Board has the information it needs to adopt constructive, progressive, sound, and practical strategic and operating plans for our organization. S/he provides impetus and support to the fundraising efforts of the Board and is actively engaged in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. S/he engages, motivates, and supervises a high caliber administrative staff.
The Executive Director is the representative and spokesperson for our organization throughout the community. S/he ensures effective communication with all of our organization's constituencies. S/he actively seeks opportunities to expand the visibility, reach, and impact of our organization throughout the Chicago Southland.
Candidate Profile:
-Proven leadership ability with three to five years of successful experience in not-for profit performing arts management, preferably as a staff member of a professional orchestra.
-S/he will have a strong working knowledge of music, concert production, and orchestra operations.
-S/he will have excellent financial management skills and a track record for achieving goals.
-Experience at the staff level in fundraising, marketing, and/or audience development is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have the ability to speak and write persuasively about our organization and its value to the community. S/he will have the ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have excellent management skills. S/he will be a self-starter with high energy, maturity, and self-confidence. S/he will be a person of integrity and high ethical standards.
