Organization
A Colorado non-profit organization since 1979, we exist to serve as a local, regional and national resource for the teaching, presentation and preservation of roots, folk and acoustic music, and to make enjoyment of and participation in live performance and dancing a vital part of our community's cultural life.
Activities
We connect people to the power of music through education, performance and outreach. Our School of Music provides group and private lessons, workshops and outreach programs to over 5,000 students annually. We produce over 200 concerts per year for over 65,000 patrons including shows at its main venue at 71 E. Yale Venue, the Denver Botanic Gardens summer concert series, L2 Arts and Culture Center, and other venues on the Front Range. We also provide outreach programs to over 16,000 K-12 students annually across Colorado. We also feature a state-of-the art recording studio, a café, and other amenities.

Position
The Director of Finance will be a strategic thought-partner and will report to the CEO. The candidate will be a hands-on, participative manager, and will be integral to the following activities: finance, business planning, budgeting, human resources, and administration.
The Director of Finance will play a critical role in partnering with the strategic leadership team in a strategic decision making and operations as we continue to enhance its quality programming and build capacity.
Responsibilities:
Financial Duties
• Preparation of monthly financial statements according to GAAP.
• Oversee accounting staff in the proper recording of day-to-day financial activity.
• Be responsible for all AP and AR functions.
• Coordinate with management and staff to provide current financial information necessary for decision making.
• Manage and optimize cash flow.
• Payroll recording, compliance and payment including payroll taxes.
• Resolve Sales Tax issues for the City of Denver.
• Lead the Budget process in conjunction with the CEO
• Work with vendors, consultants and other external partners.
• Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) reporting and compliance with an eye for the changing environment.
• Lead internal team for annual audit process including work with auditors, finance committee of the board.
Human Resources Duties
• Develop and maintain employee manual.
• Aide in maintaining and monitoring employee benefits such as health insurance, vacation, sick time, and contractor contracts.
• Maintain individual employee files that include performance evaluations, benefits and terminations.
Building and Facility Management
• Assist in overseeing the maintenance staff and handle regular maintenance issues.
• Be responsible for the financial oversight of large building projects
• Control the bidding process of future capital projects.
Other Desired Skills and Strengths
• Understanding of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) requirements and accounting procedures
• Knowledge of investment strategies and endowment management
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of a B.A., ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree
• At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience, preferably with broad financial and operations management experience
• Cost-based accounting knowledge
• Experience with quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for a $3 Million+ organization
• Ability to translate financial concepts to -- and effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
• Understanding of grants management
• Technology savvy including knowledge of accounting and reporting software (QuickBooks, Excel, etc.). Ability to select and oversee other appropriate software installations and management
• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
• A mulit-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
• Understand GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Ability to attend a few key special events in accounting/event capacity

Salary
