About the job
We are seeking a Director of Concerts and Events.
We seek a proven and innovative leader to advance its substantial program of performing arts presentations. This is a policy-making position reporting to the Executive Director and consulting on shaping all major school initiatives.
The Director of Concerts and Events oversees a budget of approximately $2M, for more than 300 events per year, with many performances sponsored by businesses or individual donors.
With a new building and new capacity, our school is taking a large step forward in arts education capabilities. We are looking for the individual who can help us make a commensurate leap in the tone and content of our public performance offerings.
Our school has a long and prominent history as a presenter; this is as an opportunity to build on that history, to generate unique and engaging programs that capture the imagination of our existing patrons and build fresh new audiences.
We seek a Director who is rooted in tradition and fully prepared to push at the boundaries tradition presents; to work with artists and the School community to develop creative models of engaging artistic resources — and in this process, help revitalize the deep traditions of American and global music, dance and performance that are central to our school's mission.
The successful candidate for this position will be able to articulate how artistic tradition and innovation intersect, and how he or she proposes to creatively develop programs that embody that intersection.
If you have a vision for how American and global culture can be presented in the public arena today — we look forward to receiving your resumé.
