Director of Children's Music

Position Title: Director of Music Ministries with Children
Reports To: Director of Worship and Music Ministries
Position Classification: Salaried Part-Time (approx. 20 hours/week)

Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction, energy and continuity in the ministry of music with the children of Desert Cross Lutheran Church and the community.

Availability Requirements:
Sundays 8:00am to 11:00am
For Children’s Sunday Jubilation Services and as needed by the Director of Children’s Education
Tuesdays 8:00am to 12:00pm
Parent/Tot Gathering and Staff Meetings
Wednesdays 9:00am to 11am
Parent/Tot Gathering - 3:00pm to 6:00pm
For after school program: JOY for all ages
June
For the one week of Vacation Bible School
July
For the one week of Music Camp
November and December
For Christmas/Advent programs
Other times as programs and seasonal events are planned with Director of Children’s Education

Qualifications
1 Must relate well with children from infancy to young adults
2 Must have formal training in both vocal and instrumental music
3 Must be able to work well with volunteers both adult and youth

Preferred Qualifications
1 Music Major or Minor and be able to play a piano
2 Creativity and flexibility with the use of music in ministry with children
3 Prior experience in music ministry with children and youth
4 Collaborative Teaching style – Most of the activities are team led so collaborative work style is important
5 Be available at the above times for on-going and existing programs
6 Be able to start the position immediately
7 Comfortable with PowerPoint, and audio/visual equipment

First preference given to those connected with Desert Cross and those active in a faith-based community
