We are currently seeking a Director, Business Development for the Santa Monica, CA location.
Overview:
The Business Development group is responsible for defining Universal Music Group’s North American digital strategy and executing on strategic opportunities to develop the digital marketplace.
This position is responsible for analyzing and developing new business opportunities, products and services to broaden the Latin music distribution footprint in North America.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Identify strategic and tactical opportunities and risks for UMG and the Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
• Research and identify usage models, products and services for the Latin music consumers.
• Analyze and assess the economics of new business model, new markets and products and pending deals.
• Prepare and deliver presentations, deal memos and reports to communicate status of projects, sales, and marketing efforts to key internal personnel.
• Negotiate deals with online retailers, wireless carriers, content aggregators, application developers, and infrastructure providers to grow UMG’s digital Latin music business. Interface with business affairs to manage deal negotiation through execution.
Requirements:
• BS/BA from a major university.
• Minimum five years in the Latin music industry.
• Several years of experience in the digital content industry.
• Fluent English and Spanish speaker with verbal and written competency in business setting
• Deep understanding of the Latin culture and Latin music consumer.
• Technical background a plus.
• Expertise in all major Microsoft Office tools including advanced Excel and PowerPoint expertise.
• Ability to create PowerPoint presentations that convey complex issues clearly and concisely.
• Strong analytical and financial skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities. Must be able to work under time constraints.
