Responsibilities / Duties
Monitor receipt of classical music performance data and identify our repertory received in music reports from radio and live concert performance sources. These functions support our quarterly Concert Radio and annual Live Classical Concert distributions, serving thousands of composers and publishers. They have a direct impact on the thoroughness, accuracy and timeliness of royalty payments to us and foreign affiliates and can serve as guides to our music performance share.
Classical/Concert Radio (quarterly)
Follow established methodology for requesting and/or procuring music report information from classical radio stations and orchestra broadcast syndicators.
Maintain database to store information on these reporting sources and track the status of music reporting.
Interact regularly with management in Classical Music Administration on issues related to our classical media sources, composers, repertory, and performances.
Analyze program guides and performance data from stations.
Enter into a database the identified repertory.
Identify classical titles in online performance identification system to meet prescribed distribution deadlines.
Request missing work registrations from our composers or publishers in consultation with AVP, Classical Music Administration.
Request excerpt registrations for classical works from Music Works Registration.
Conduct internet research for missing titles.
Provide statistical and business status reports to management as requested.
Other duties, as assigned.
Classical Live Concerts (year-long process)
Sort, organize, file, and analyze for our title content all concert programs received from licensees, composers, publishers, miscellaneous sources and, reconcile the data.
Prepare all the above information for data entry into our systems.
Send follow-up communication when questions arise.
In cooperation with AVP, research and investigate leads for prospective licensees and monitor new licensee accounts.
Receive and review concert programs from several hundred colleges and universities. Follow established methodology to enter data into our systems.
Review quarterly title updates, new works and transfers.
Edit and proofread performance databases.
Check title index, verify accuracy of matches, and resolve unmatched titles.
Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 + years of experience working in the music business preferred; or any combination of education/training/experience.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
General music business knowledge and understanding of copyright issues relevant to music performance (classical and/or general).
Knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Excellent research skills, particularly on the Internet.
Detail oriented work habits with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Highly organized with excellent time-management skills.
Initiative and flexibility.
Ability to work reliably with minimal supervision.
