Music Leader/Keyboardist
We are seeking a Contemporary Music Leader/ Keyboardist for our Saturday 5:30 p.m. Service. The service is established and has been ongoing for over 3 years. The service style is upbeat folk/contemporary praise and currently consists of singers, guitar, keyboard, piano (to be filled by this position), and other occasional instruments. This service gives an opportunity to worship in a more casual and contemporary style. Duties and requirements:
• Play piano/keyboard at 5:30 pm Saturday evening worship services and occasional special events
• Lead congregation in singing and learning new songs
• Lead a “Praise group” of volunteer singers and instrumentalists at Saturday evening worship services
• Lead voice and instrument practice time (currently Thursday nights), including short rehearsal prior to worship service
• Participate with the Saturday Evening Design Group in song selection
• Identify and procure music arrangements from economical sources, whenever needed. (Church has CCLI agreement.)
• Coordinate with Saturday Evening Worship Planning Group to provide for music leadership at Saturday service during any periods of absence
• Report to Saturday Evening Worship Planning Group and attend Planning Group meetings.
Candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Competently play piano/keyboard, and arrange and lead other singers and musicians to accompany the piano/keyboard or as stand-alone performers
• Make changes in music compositions to match needs and talents of performers
• Incorporate other instruments in musical selections, including guitar, percussion, and others
• Experience playing with and/or leading a group(s) of singers and instrumentalists in “contemporary” worship services is desirable
