Overview of the Position
We are looking for excellent candidates for a part-time position in the Performing Arts as the school’s Choral Music teacher. Teaching may include teaching two or three courses and other school related duties. Candidates will have a primary emphasis in choral pedagogy and a diverse knowledge of repertoire suitable for high school students. It is critical the teacher also serve as the class’ piano accompanist. A secondary proficiency in jazz instrumental music and/or classical instrumental ensembles is preferred, but not required. We are looking for a teacher with a passion for the performing arts, one who has worked in the arts community, and who can demonstrate the pedagogical skills, knowledge, and capacities required to engage high school students in deep thinking and learning. Alignment with the mission and the core values of the school is key. We are also looking for kind, thoughtful, energetic, innovative teachers, and all-around "school people" who are looking to contribute to our community. Ideal candidates will have a teaching credential and/or a master’s degree in the arts, and at least three years of teaching experience, preferably at the high school level. The most successful candidates will be those who are flexible, reflective, observant, and who take initiative. A love of high school students and a sense of humor are required.
