We are seeking an Assistant Category Manager for the Accessories department.
Reporting to the Category Manager - Accessories this position is responsible for collaborating in the planning and management of category sales and margin, product assortment, product promotions, product inventory levels, vendor relationships and category analysis. In addition, this position is responsible for partnering with Direct Brands, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Retail Operations, as needed to achieve category goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assist in the development of the strategic plan for the category.
-Help ensure successful execution of category strategies and tactics
-Work with Category Mgrs to choose and align the product assortment based on customer buying trends.
-Build product catalogs inclusive of new product launches and promotions.
-Work collaboratively with Inventory Management team to optimize inventory productivity to meet financial goals.
-Monitor and report on competitor price, promotion, assortment and presentation tactics.
-Assist in vendor relationship management.
-Work with Category Mgrs to develop the vision for how the overall assortment is represented in stores.
-Work with Direct Brands, Marketing, SPG, Retail Sales and Ops departments to drive the overall success of department goals.
-Analyze and develop weekly reports that reflect category performance trends.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Must have 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, or retail, or category management.
-Must have strong strategic, analytical, communication, interpersonal, computer, negotiation and spreadsheet skills.
-Must be customer-focused, have a strong teamwork philosophy, time management and self management skills.
-Must have the ability to multi-task and demonstrate a common sense approach to problem solving and analysis.
-Must possess good business and math skills.
-Must have basic knowledge of accessory products and a strong passion for music (instrument background a plus)
-Must be able to work extended hours to get projects completed.
-Must have a basic understanding of how marketing and promotions work.
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
-3-5 years of experience in merchandising, or retail, or category management.
-A passion for music is a huge plus
-Working knowledge of Microsoft software.
