Job Description:
A Boston-based classical musician management company, seeks an Artist Representative to represent its small roster of classical and contemporary-classical musicians.

Artist Representative must:
Maintain detailed knowledge of each roster artist and their program offerings
Conduct all personalized correspondence with presenters interested in booking a concert via both telephone and email
Expand concert bookings to include satellite events and outreach opportunities
Negotiate payment and travel/accommodation agreements with presenters
Schedule and execute time-sensitive follow-ups
Design HTML promotional mailings
Design regional tours of concerts in the same geographical area within the larger concert season
Maintain database entries of correspondence and upcoming calls scheduled
Update the company website
Keep a daily log of work accomplished
The job is part-time for the first year, and requires approximately 15 hours of work a week from September through the end of May, with reduced work hours in the first year's summer months (approx 8 hours a week). Job has the possibility of expanding its hours in the coming year for the right applicant, as our artists roster is slated to double in size for the 2010-11 booking season.

Applicant Requirements:
An applicant for this position must have a demonstrated interest in artist/music management. A graduate-level degree in arts management, music management, or arts administration is preferred.

internet savvy including sophistication with website navigation, Google search, Google maps, airline itinerary research, and email-program skills
sophistication in operating MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access

positive attitude and upbeat approach to encountered difficulties
Job Location: For qualified applicants with appropriate computer software and quiet home office environments, the job can be done from applicant's home office. Applicant must have the following well-maintained and up-to-date equipment in his/her home office:
PC computer
printer
reliable internet connection
business telephone with reliable voicemail service

Work Hours:
Work hours are approximately three hours daily, Monday through Friday, scheduled between 1 and 5pm. Some correspondence, including phone calls to presenters in other time zones, may take place outside of scheduled work hours. The total number of work hours will be approximately 15 hours per week from September through the end of May. The summer workload in the first year drops to approximately 8 hours a week for June, July, and August. Work hours will increase in the coming year for the applicant who demonstrates commitment and excellence.

Compensation:
Pay will be commensurate with experience. Starting wage will be re-evaluated six months into the position, allowing for an increase commensurate with Artist Representative's consistent high performance over that span of time. Wage will be re-evaluated annually for merit-based bonus or promotion.
