This is a full-time regular position in the Van Nuys office and includes a generous benefit package described later in this job listing.
DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, reporting to the Marketing & PR Manager, and in collaboration with President & Founder Tish Ciravolo, Director of Artist Relations and other team members, assists with artist relations, customer service, public relations, and promotional activities for the Musical Instruments Team.
CORE DUTIES
Depending on assignment, core duties include (but are not limited to) the following:
Act as a liaison between the artist community and the team. This includes supporting and building the sense of community for our current artist roster, assisting in acquiring new artists to endorse guitars, and empowering all parties to further our mission of helping more girls play guitar and enjoy music.
Handle all customer service responsibilities. This includes promptly responding to customer phone calls, letters, faxes, emails, and inquiries received through the various social networking sites. Also includes sending out catalogs and other materials when appropriate.
Write and distribute artist-related press releases, post artist information on appropriate websites, maintain artist gig/event calendar.
Write and distribute press releases, post on appropriate Alfred websites. Assist team members to track and report media pick-up of all press activities.
Write and maintain product descriptions for both companies.
Mail out catalogs, welcome letters, banners, logos, art assets/website link info, products, etc. as needed.
Assist in the creation, evaluation, and facilitation of promotions that help support and further our mission. Examples include heading up newsletters, a street team, artist compilation CDs, a you tube page, podcasts, and other methods of bonding our artist network together and fostering a positive community that consistently and publically speaks very highly of our company.
Organize, evaluate, and facilitate product donations, charitable contributions, and product placement initiatives as appropriate.
Attend local shows to support artists, go to showcases and award ceremonies to present artists with guitars and or endorsement deals, work various functions (NAMM, local shows), plan and execute events and showcases in conjunction with Marketing and PR.
Grow and maintain social networking websites, including monitoring and accepting friends and comments on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and maintaining blogs, contributing to forums, engaging in meaningful customer interaction, positively representing the face of the company, etc.
Launch a more interactive and proactive marketing initiative by establishing company as a helpful entity to guitar TAB communities (Ultimate-Guitar.com, MxTabs.net, Tabs.GuitarWorld.com). Create a company account & forum group on each of these sites to continuously build our presence as an expert in guitar instruction and post regular blogs regarding products and services, post photos and video clips announcing new releases and titles.
Manage individual accounts for our product lines, artists, etc., as appropriate.
Maintain a contact database for all our artists.
Assists in other areas as needed.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF: Professional marketing concepts, customer service experience, artist relations.
SKILLS: strong writing skills, proper English usage and writing constructs; basic principles of budget development; Microsoft Word, EXCEL, Outlook, basic html, strong online social networking skills, and general database knowledge.
ABILITY TO: Apply professional marketing concepts to implement effective promotional projects and track results; communicate at a high level, both written and verbal, with external and internal contacts; determine priorities and organize work to complete multiple tasks under time pressure; function creatively and resourcefully to improve promotional output; analyze data and reach appropriate conclusions; work well in a team environment.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: strong social skills, public speaking, and organizational skills; a candidate who plays guitar or bass is strongly desired.
The office is located in Van Nuys, California. Local Candidates only please. Hours are generally M-F 8 AM - 4:30 PM. however each department arranges its own best schedule.
