President Obama has jokes
With the 2012 presidential election coming this fall it is important for voters to have a clear idea of each candidate’s opinions on subjects such health care, education and
musicians, specifically
Kanye West.
President Obama made his views clear in September 2009, when he called Kanye a
“jackass” for interrupting Taylor Swift’s VMA speech, but in case he was misunderstood, he went ahead and elaborated on his comments this week in an interview with
The Atlantic.
“He is a jackass,” said Obama. “But he’s talented.”
Obama also stated that Jay Z is his favorite rapper, so…double-ouch for Kanye.

Writing for film and TV is a totally different beast and is much different than writing for an artist or a specific project. Let me explain.
When you write for film or television, the most important element going on is the “DIALOGUE”! No matter how good your track is, it will never compete with the dialogue! Dialogue rules in this case. If you’ve got a melody in a track that’s busier than a one-legged river dancer, chances are your track won’t even be considered when the music supervisor is auditioning material. Read more »

The music video revolution resurrected.
Since it’s inception in December 2009, Vevo had balanced an awkward victory of some impressive viewing numbers and a bad rap. Initially they struggled to connect with their core market, as young Youtube browsers would wonder (and publicly comment) what was happening when they were redirected and forced to watch more corporate ads than the then-slightly-freer Youtube. More WTFs than LOLs may have hindered their uptake a little, but the following months and years of clearing out unofficial Youtube uploads led to official artist channels being developed on Vevo, and the figures kept on rising. Aiming for premium and official music videos, coupled with their attempt to license and distribute unique and live content has resulted in being a forceful name in online streaming, with numbers racing past those of established giants Facebook, Hulu, and MTV. Neil Young contemplates the future of digital music (photo by NRK 3p).
He may be an old man, but Neil Young has some new ideas. Apparently, the 66-year-old musician is developing a new high-definition alternative to the MP3 format. This file will have all the accessibility of an MP3, but with the studio-quality resolution that gets lost in the process of compression.
“When I started making records, we had a hundred percent of the sound,” said Young. “And then you listen to it as an MP3 at the same volume – people leave the room. It hurts…It’s not that digital is bad or inferior. It’s that the way it’s being used is not sufficient to transfer the depth of the art.”
According to Young, he also met with Steve Jobs before his death to talk about the possibility of creating an iPod-like device on which to play these high-quality files.
For more on Neil’s plans to rock hi-def in the free world, check out Patrick Flanary’s article at rollingstone.com.

The Hunger Games soundtrack hit No. 1 on the billboard 200 chart in its first week, making it the first film soundtrack to reach the top of the chart since Michael Jackson‘s This Is It in 2009. This new development is further evidence that the franchise is going to earn more money than has ever been printed or stamped in the history of currency, or at least more than you’re hoping to win with this evening’s Mega Millions lotto jackpot. The soundtrack features new songs from Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and Arcade Fire, who all survived the 2011 Hunger Games.
